haiti > Sam and Delores had been invited to do a Bible study in a new area, Kalabat [KAH-lah-bat], so they visited the area on Thursday, March 2nd. On Friday, Belton (a Haitian storyer on the team) and Delores prayer walked and visited with the people in this area. These people are some of the first people they sat and talked with about the potential for Bible storying in this area.
haiti > This is a house in Kalabat [KAH-lah-bat]. As we walked along, some of the people we had already visited with walked with us. We are told there are a lot of young adults in this community and the nearest church is a Catholic church, which is a good distance. Pray for the Bible storying that is starting on the afternoon of Thursday, March 9th.
haiti > This older lady asked Belton and Delores to come pray for her when they were prayerwalking the area of Kalabat [KAH-lah-bat]. She has been in bed for two years now in severe pain. Pray that God will use her faith to heal her and that she can be a light for this community that does not have a church in their area and where a Bible study is beginning.
haiti > These kids followed Belton and Delores into a home to pray for a lady in Kalabat [KAH-lah-bat]. They were happy to pose for a photo and hopefully you can't tell that they are not all dressed appropriately for photos. They would run in front and behind us.
haiti > I tried to show this man his picture then realized that his cataracts prevent him from seeing most everything. He has had abdominal problems for many months, lost a lot of weight, and is weak. Pray that God will touch this man and that God will be glorified in the community of Kalabat [KAH-lah-bat] where a new Bible storying group is starting.
haiti > This sad woman followed Belton and Delores as they were prayerwalking the area of Kalabat [KAH-lah-bat], in preparation for starting a Bible study. She finally asked to be prayed for individually. She is not well and life is hard. Pray for her to find relief from misery and joy in Christ through the new Bible study.
haiti > This is a photo of the hougon's (voodoo witch doctor, pronounced [HOO-gohn]) house in Sapate II [sah-pah-TEHR deh], which is the closest house you can see from the little one room school where we are meeting.
haiti > This is the hougon's peristyle where voodoo ceremonies are held near the Bible study area in Sapate II [sah-pah-TEHR deh].
haiti > Here are a few of the people who come to the Bible studies in Sapate II [sah-pah-TEHR deh]. You can see the "bird perches" that the children sit on in this one room school room. They need to be nailed down, because if one person wiggles, the whole row will go tumbling to the ground.
