haiti > Marmont, Doko, Kou Kadichon, and Kalabat got together to celebrate baptisms Sunday. This photo is Belton baptizing a young lady with Durancy assisting.
haiti > This is pitimi [pih-tee-MEE] (milo or sorghum) sitting in the pilon [pee-LOHN] being ground to eat in Kalabat.
haiti > This is a man in Kalabat [KAH-lah-baht] grinding pitimi (milo or sorghum) for his family to eat later. Pitimi is about the last food this time of year. Gardens are being planted. Some mangos and avocados are ready to eat.
haiti > This is the group in Kalabat that meets under the mango tree where Belton is storying the Bible. We have few men who participate. Pray for leaders to emerge in this community. A group from Missouri will be doing a Backyard Bible Club in Kalabat in July.
haiti > This little fellow is full of energy and mischief. His name is G.G. and he is still healthy, because he is being breast fed. He comes to every Bible story session in Kalabat with his mom. He has learned to walk since we have started going there.
haiti > This is Belton (Haitian storyer on our team), telling the story of Elijah to the group at Kalabat, where we meet on Thursdays under the big mango tree.
haiti > These are a close up and a long shot of mango trees in Kalabat. As dry season ends and rainy season begins, mangos are the first foods available. Everybody is hungry. Horses, goats, dogs, and people all feast on mangos - even sometimes before they are ripe. It is common to see naked kids with big grins and mango juice dripping down their chins, elbows, and bellies as they enjoy the delicious ripe fruit at this time of year.
haiti > For a number of months, we asked you to pray for baby Joslin as she struggled with underweight issues and her mom was not able to breastfeed her. These pictures are of baby Joslin, her mom, Kathy Bishop (a nurse visiting from Washington state), and Tinana. Baby Joslin is 15 pounds now and either 21 or 22 months old. She walks shakily and has the signs of protein deficiency, but she continues to develop, praise to God. Thank you for praying.
haiti > This lady came by a few days ago, starving to death. All of her family has died and she is left on her own. We gave her some food and vitamins and talked to her about the Lord, but she did not want to hear about the Lord. She allowed me to pray for her, anyway. Today she came back to say that the food and vitamins were going through her, because she was not accustomed to eating. I gave her something to slow them down in her G.I. tract. She also said she was ready to hear about the Lord and make a decision to follow him, so I explained how to become a Christian and she prayed to accept Christ. Pray that God will help her to live for Him the rest of her days and that He will provide a way for her to live.
